Gridiron back in Ipswich

IPSWICH Broncos gridiron teams could soon be playing at North Ipswich.

The Broncos are an affiliate team under the Logan City Gridiron Football Club.

After about 10 years since gridiron was last played in Ipswich, officials have decided to revive the sport in the area.

Official Jason Kippen said the Ipswich teams would be based at Norths Rugby League fields in North Ipswich.

A second sign-on day is being held from 11am-1pm on Sunday at Norths.

Kippen said the club was hoping to field a colts (boys and girls together from 14-18) and possibly a women's team before hopefully expanding in the future.

"We are working with Norths to get gridiron back up and running again in Ipswich,'' Kippen said.
