Say 'cheese': Great white shark attacks camera

SAY 'cheese'.

A group of scientists came as close as you could to asking a great white shark for a picture - and live to tell the tale - when their camera was attacked by the predator off the coast of the US.

The Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries employees began filming near Monomy Island last month when the nearly four-metre shark began to circle.

But the shark was clearly not in the mood to be pestered by the paparazzi and subsequently showed its frustration - by eating the camera!

However, the camera was rescued from becoming lunch and the scientists got exactly what they wanted - a nice big smile of pearly, razor-sharp whites.
