Pisasale on Monday: Great boost for Ipswich

LAST week's announcement of a new $550 million resort to be built at Brookwater is tremendous news and the people of Ipswich should be proud. The development will be the second- largest investment by a resort in Australia ever and it will really give our city a boost in terms of employment and prestige.

Come along to the Leukaemia Foundation's Light the Night walk in Limestone Park on Wednesday night and help shine a lantern of hope and raise money for blood cancer research. Lantern sales on the night are $10 and collections will be open from 5.30pm, with proceedings starting at 6.40pm. You can register now at

Exciting news in Ripley with the first parklands and Ecco Ripley Development officially opening on Saturday. The community will be able to enjoy the new state-of-the-art playground and barbecue areas. It's an exciting time for Ipswich with the Ripley Valley region taking off.

It was great to be part of the Ipswich Jets presentation dinner on Friday night. I can't believe the rugby league season is over for another year. Well done to all the players, coaches, staff and families on a tremendous year.

The Ashley Institute of Training officially opened its new Ipswich location on Friday in the Top of Town. The Nationally Accredited Registered Training Organisation will help local job seekers gain valuable skills and qualifications, while also assisting local employers with training needs. A great addition to our city.

Congratulations to local artist Sharon MacKenzie who won the major prize in the Queensland Regional Arts Awards. Well done also to Donna Davis for taking out highly commended. Both artists have now been selected for the 2015 State Tour, well done.

The Ipswich Country Music Festival hosted by the Rotary Club of Booval is on this Saturday at Swifts Sports Fields, Yamanto.
