COMMUNITY organisations in Ipswich and the Somerset Region are among 4800 across Australia to benefit from the Federal Government's $16 million Volunteer Grants program.

Across Ipswich and the Somerset Region 55 organisations will share in $195,779 to support the work of their volunteers.

Member for Blair Shayne Neumann said the Federal Government's investment was delivering much-needed support to local volunteers.

"We know that volunteers give their time, energy and expertise to support our community," Mr Neumann said.

"The Volunteer Grants will support a range of local groups such as school Parents and Citizens' Associations, the local RSLs and numerous sporting clubs."
