Golf course repair employs jobless

REPAIRING the flood-damaged Ipswich Golf Club has helped 19 job seekers to gain new skills through a government-funded employment project.

Member for Ipswich Ian Berry congratulated the group on completing 18 weeks of paid work as well as earning the construction industry White Card and four units from the Certificate II in Horticulture.

Challenge Employment and Training organised the project with the Ipswich Golf Club.

"This project has played an important role in providing people with income and new skills while restoring the Ipswich Golf Club," Mr Berry said.
