Gibson welcomes corrective officers

REGIONAL correctional facilities have been given an extra boost with the allocation of 26 extra corrective services officers.

The Minister for Police and Community Safety David Gibson welcomed 26 recruits into the job at the Queensland Corrective Services Academy at Wacol, east of Ipswich, on Friday morning as part of their graduation ceremony.

Four of the offices will be deployed to the Capricornia Correctional Centre in Rockhampton, four to Maryborough, seven to Woodford, five to Brisbane and six officers will go to the escort and security branch at Wacol.

Mr Gibson also presented a number of National Service Medals to existing officers for their commitment and dedication to the Queensland corrections system.
