Gatton man arrested for assaulting police

A 37-year-old Gatton man has been charged with several offences following a disturbance in Gatton late last night.

Police will allege they attended a hotel in Railway Street around midnight in relation to an unrelated matter. While at the hotel they will allege they observed the man having his entry to the hotel refused and that they assisted the man after he fell over.

The man has then allegedly resented directions police officers were giving him and he allegedly pushed a female officer on two occasions.

It is further alleged the man has then punched a 32-year-old female officer in the face. The man was restrained and arrested by police.

The officer was transported to Saint Vincent's Hospital and received treatment for a facial fracture.

The man was charged with one count of serious assault police causing bodily harm and three counts of assault police while adversely affected by intoxicating substance.

He is due to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court today.
