Future looks bright for Caitlyn Shadbolt after X Factor exit

GYMPIE'S country princes Caitlyn Shadbolt was eliminated from The X Factor tonight.

After fighting for her spot on the reality singing show in several bottom two performances, Shadbolt's number was finally up tonight.

The 18-year-old was eliminated after performing two songs, one a "killer track" and the other a "curve ball", on Sunday.

She was up against rocker Dean Ray, who sang a Johnny Cash tune to impress the judges and advance to the Top 4.

Shadbolt thanked her mentor Ronan Keating and all of the crew involved with the show.

"A big thank you to Ronan. I mean Top 5, I honestly can't complain," she said.

"I wanted to thank everyone behind the scenes; everyone who puts so much work into this show that you don't see."

Keating said he loved working with his "country princess".

"It's this the attitude I'm talking about. She leaves a good vibe everywhere she goes," he said.

"I'm proud of her and she's going to have a career, I know she is."

American rapper Redfoo said the talented teen help put country music back on his radar.

"You've had a lot of curveballs thrown at you… but your attitude has been impeccable and you come out there and you give it a go," Redfoo said.

"No matter what happens tonight, as well, you've got to make a record. You've got to do your thing and your country swag."
