Cactus Espresso Bar to host fundraiser for Greste

CACTUS Espresso Bar will be hold a fundraiser to help support Australian journalist Peter Greste who has been held in an Egyptian jail since being arrested last December.

The Free Peter Greste Fundraiser will host live music acts as well as speaking presentations from the imprisoned journalists' parents, Juris and Lois Greste, and Andrew Fraser from The Australian.

Owner of Cactus Espresso Bar Rachel Nolan has known Peter Greste's parents for many years and wants to show them support.

"I think it's a very important cause, the issue of free media is a very important one globally," she said.

"I want to give Ipswich people the opportunity to say we care about Peter, we care about his family and we care about free press."

Entry to the BYO event will cost $10 with all proceeds going to the Free Peter Greste Campaign.

Live music from Tiger Street, Born Obsolete, Michael Melling and DJ Archie Jacobson will be on offer as well as food and drink.

The fundraiser will be held on Friday from 7pm at the Cactus Espresso Bar on Brisbane St.
