Pop icon and former Neighbours star buys into Byron

FORMER Neighbours actor turned pop singer Natalie Imbruglia has joined a long list of celebrities to buy into the Byron Bay area.

The "Torn" singer, who bases herself in London, was spotted hanging out in Byron in recent days after reportedly picking up a bargain $1.3 million Coorabell property earlier this month.

According to Domain real estate, the property Imbruglia bought was a three-bedroom "shack" with ocean views, listed by LJ Hooker Byron Bay with the same asking price.

The former partner of Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns has joined a star-studded line up of artists and actors to buy into to the Byron region.

Most recently, Chris Hemsworth aka Thor splashed out on a prime Broken Head property for $7 million in 2014, while Lennox Head-raised Simon Baker picked up a hinterland Nashua property for $1.5 million in 2009.

Hemsworth is regularly spotted picking up vanilla slices from the Lennox Head bakery, clearly preferring the mellow Lennox to the hipstified hype of Byron Bay.

It remains unclear whether Imbruglia will opt to move to the North Coast full-time or just on occasion, although perhaps the magical scenery of the region will serve as useful inspiration for her next album.
