Former mayor was far from perfect

IN response to the recent interview (QT 26/07) with our esteemed ex-mayor, I'd like to draw attention to some of the other achievements during his time as head of the city.

We have neglected street infrastructure and parks in old Ipswich, unchecked rampant development in newer suburbs resulting in deaths of koala populations and unsustainable altering of watercourses, numerous promised lagoons, sporting teams, bridges coming to the region (some of which were in election periods).

Also a failure to listen or consult with the community on issues of importance to them, failure to own issues affecting Ipswich's most vulnerable and, my favourite, letting the centre of town become a veritable graveyard through total neglect and lack of support of local small business.
