Force chases quarter-final glory

AFTER successful state league regular seasons, the Ipswich Force women's and men's teams take centre stage on Saturday night.

A big home crowd is invited to cheer the proud Ipswich teams to victory in the quarter-final showdowns at Cotton on Foundation Stadium at Booval.

Both teams finished first in their QBL pools, securing the Force women a 5pm tipoff against Northside Wizards, before the Ipswich men face Bundaberg at 8pm.

The Ipswich women won the previous clash against the Wizards but only by a meagre 10 points after a slow start and an average third quarter.

We need to be on our game, play through all four quarters and fight until the end.

The playoffs bring some nervousness and a lot of excitement and anticipation.

After last year, we know finals are anyone's game and the crowd can help make or break a team.

Reaping the confidence from last week's win against the Gold Coast - when three key players were missing - we know we have the ability and depth to put Northside away.

The Force men also have a cracker match to excite the crowd.

Ipswich and Bundaberg have faced each other twice during the regular season with each team winning one game.

After coming off a big win last weekend against the Gold Coast, the men have continued to build their confidence ahead of the playoffs.

Meanwhile, it appears the many seasons playing for the Force or Eagles has taken its toll on the bodies of our legends.

Instead of a scheduled game involving former greats, there will be a Future Legends of the League match at 6.45pm and a live auction of the men's uniforms at 7pm.

Spectators are welcome at Cotton on Foundation Stadium to support Ipswich's quest to reach the QBL semi-finals.

Corporate boxes are still available.
