Five more army members suspended as part of investigation

THE Defence Force has suspended five more members of the army as part of a major investigation into alleged military disciplinary offences.

A statement from Defence, released on Monday, said five more members of the army had been suspended, but did not identify the rank or identity of any of the latest suspended members.

It comes amid allegations senior officers and non-commissioned officers had "produced and distributed highly inappropriate material demeaning women".

The investigation has already resulted in the suspension of 14 others, and another 90 defence personnel were under investigation, identified on "the periphery" of the scandal.

It comes as the Defence Force Investigative Service has confirmed there remains the possibility that those involved "may change", as investigations continue.

Defence would not make any further comment on the investigation on Monday.
