POLICE found 61 ecstasy pills, methylamphetamine and two tabs of LSD in a man's bag during a search of a car.
Jake Allan Berry, 23, pleaded guilty to possessing drug utensils and three counts of possessing drugs in the Mackay Magistrates Court today.
Prosecutor Senior Constable Erskine said that on June 29, police intercepted a car carrying three men and a woman.
The driver tested positive to a roadside breath test, but told police he had used mouthwash rather than been drinking alcohol. There was a bottle of mouthwash in the car.
Snr Const Erskine said mouthwash was sometimes used to mask drug use, so officers searched the car.
Berry was seated in the rear of the car. When police searched Berry's bag it contained 1.4 grams of methylamphetamine, 61 grey MDMA pills, two tabs of LSD, a pipe and scales.
Berry told police the drugs were for personal use.
Defence solicitor Rosie Varley said Berry was employed as a casual mechanical fitter.
He had been a recreational drug user, but his arrest had come as a "wake up call" and he had since removed himself from the party scene.
Magistrate Nerida Wilson said Berry had very good prospects of rehabilitation.
He was sentenced to 12 months' probation, and no conviction was recorded.
