Ipswich bans animal circuses

IPSWICH is set to become the first city in Queensland to ban circuses with exotic animals.

The Council's Policy and Administration Board has voted unanimously to recommend to Council a complete ban on animal circuses from July 1.

The ban would apply on all land owned or controlled by the Ipswich City Council.

Policy Board chairman Paul Tully said animal circuses were out of date.
