Firefighters douse car fire fears

FIREFIGHTERS quickly doused fears of a car fire on the Warrego Highway today.

The fire was reported about 2.30pm at Blacksoil, with reports of a large amount of smoke billowing out of the bonnet of the vehicle.

Firefighters were on the scene quickly and were able to confirm the source of the plumes of thick, grey smog.

A blown head gasket was blamed for the overheating issues and there were no flames involved.

There were no major traffic issues and the scene was cleared a short time later.
