Fire crews battle blaze near river

SEVERAL fire crews are working to contain a fire that has started in a paddock near the banks of the Brisbane River.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Service says the fire was reported near Nerreman Rd, at Wivenhoe Pocket, about 11.20am.

By 11.40am, crews had the fire contained to a paddock with no threat to properties in the area.

Two urban and two rural crews are continuing to fight the fire, with another two crews on route.
