Fill up now to beat long weekend petrol price hike

IPSWICH drivers are being advised to fill up now ahead of the long weekend, with unleaded petrol prices in south-east Queensland on the rise.

RACQ spokewoman Renee Smith said motorists should look for service stations still charging 134 cents per litre (cpl) or less.

"Prices are rising quickly and sharply across the south east to a high of 149.9cpl, that's a jump of nearly 20cpl," Ms Smith said.

"Motorists heading away for the Queen's birthday long weekend should fill up now, as we're moving into the most expensive phase of the petrol price cycle."
