Female police officer kicked to face

A FEMALE police officer has been kicked to the face during a disturbance in Maryborough overnight, 

A 26-year-old man has been charged with serious assault of a police officer as well as other charges including wilful damage of police property and obstructing police. 

Police were called to a disturbance at a home in Maryborough about 2am Monday.

A female officer was kicked to the face and three other officers were punched to the chest. 

Maryborough Police Sergeant Chris Farlow said police would not tolerate assault on police officers.

"The female police officer had bruising to the face and swelling," Sgt Farlow said. 

She didn't require any medical treatment. 

The man is expected to appear in court in Maryborough on Monday morning. 

The assault comes only days after paramedic Phil Switzer was stabbed on Fraser Island.
