Fashion on show at Ipswich Cup
THE Ipswich Cup isn't just the city's biggest day for horse racing.
It's also the biggest day of the year for fashion.
In the lead up to the Cup, Heather Grice has been rushed off her feet, dressing racegoers in hats, fascinators and other accessories for the big day.
Her shop, Heather's Accessories - located in Booval Fair - has been around for 22 years and established itself as the go-to place for racewear fashion.
"This is the busiest time of the year for the shop," Mrs Grice said. "It's even busier than the Christmas period.
"I love the Ipswich Cup - it's that one time of the year where people in Ipswich can get dressed up for a great day."
Mrs Grice said hot pink and red seemed to be the colours on-trend for this year's Cup.
Another person who is expecting a busy day tomorrow is Yamanto-based makeup artist Kristy Murphy who runs Alluring Airbrushed Make-Up.
Mrs Murphy said she had been fully booked out to do people's make-up for the Cup for the past three months.
"My first client is at 5.30am, I'll be putting make up on about 10 people," she said.
"The Cup is a great day for girls to get dolled up.
"I especially enjoy the Fashions on the Field, which I have placed runner-up in previous years."
The Ipswich Cup's Fashions on the Field will take place at 2pm today.
