Our Fanning to star in new TV series documentary

TWEED Heads' own world champion surfer Mick Fanning will star in a new TV series.

The six-part series called Focus, for Fox Sports, follows accomplished athletes in the pursuit of sporting success, delving deep into their everyday battles, rituals, crises and torment.

Two athletes will feature in each episode, with Fanning joined by Mark Webber in a September 11 instalment titled Mentors, accompanied by teen grom Luke Hynd.

"This fly-on-the-wall, six-part series traverses the globe following the most accomplished athletic stars of our time in their difficult pursuit of greatness," Focus publicist Augusta Goldsmith said.

"It's exciting times for Mick, who is currently competing in the tour's toughest tournament, Teahupoo in Tahiti, as we speak."

The Focus program is presented in a cinematic documentary style and is narrated by professional skateboarder Corbin Harris.

The series was produced and distributed by Red Bull Media House and is airing on Wednesdays at 8.30pm on Fox Sports 1 and 1HD.

Other sportsmen and women set to appear in the series are cricket and soccer star Ellyse Perry and BMX rider Corey Bohan on August 28 and soccer celeb Tim Cahill and Red Bull athlete Ben Brown on September 4.
