12-year-old Alexis Dean's funeral to be held on Friday
TWELVE-year-old Alexis Dean, who lost her life in a tragic fire at her family home in Monkland last week will be farewelled tomorrow.
Her family is holding a private funeral service at the Gympie Funeral Home.
Alexis, who passed away in Lady Cilento Children's Hospital in Brisbane after a two-day struggle for life, will best be remembered as 'a bright ray of sunshine, taken away too early'.
The family has expressed their gratitude to the Gympie community for their sympathy and support at this time.
"We would like to thank the community for the support we have received during this very difficult time," her family said.
"We are grateful that Alexis was able to donate her organs and give life to others, and this was in keeping with how she always wanted to help others.
"We ask respectfully to now be left to grieve in private."
