Faith Lutheran sets high standard in TAS athletics

FAITH Lutheran College has achieved some tremendous success in athletics this season.

That includes being Lockyer District champions for the third year in a row.

Faith Lutheran were also champions in five age groups at the 2013 Inter Lutheran Carnival.

The college team was overall girls champions at The Associated Schools (TAS) Sports Association Carnival and champions in three age groups at TAS Sports Association Carnival. Faith Lutheran competitors combined to finish third overall on aggregate points (girls and boys).

Year 11 student Cassidy Purdon continued her impressive progress, breaking the Open girls high jump record at the District and TAS carnivals. She equalled the Met West regional record.

Seven Faith students qualified for the Met West regional team to compete at the state championships next month.

They are: Cassidy Purdon (high jump), Ritchie Lowe (100 and 200 metres), Jake Heard (javelin), Carol Burton (high jump and discus), Kayla Turnbull (discus), Natasha Schultz (200, 400 and 800 metres) and Joshua Stockill (400 metre hurdles).
