Mazda's rotary powered RX-Vision revealed
MAZDA? Check. Rotary engine? Check. New RX-9? Not confirmed, but this could well be the sleek shape of the RX-7 and RX-8 successor.
Revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show, the RX-Vision concept is a low, long, two-door two-seater with rotary power: Mazda's symbol for the company's "never stop challenging" spirit.
It appears Mazda is set to revive the rotary engine - last seen in the RX-8 model - despite its notorious thirst for petrol and oil, lack of torque and exhaust emissions.
But their high revs and potential for huge power ensures rotary power has a huge following.
Very little was revealed about the front-engine rear-drive concept, but Mazda enthusiasts should rejoice that a next-generation SKYACTIV-R rotary engine is in development, and everyone else can just marvel at the RX-Vision's stunning looks.
