Extra swim pools plan to open

ROSEWOOD and Bundamba swim centres will trial opening during the cooler months.

An Ipswich City Council spokesman said the two swim centres traditionally closed just after the Easter holiday, reopening around the September school holidays.

However, this winter the Bundamba and Rosewood pools will stay open for longer, depending on how much support the new opening hours get from the community.

"The Leichhardt and Goodna swim centres are open every day of the year except public holidays over Easter and Christmas, with the pools heated during the cooler months so residents can continue their training and health routines," the spokesman said.

"Now the Rosewood and Bundamba pools will also remain open during winter."

The Rosewood pool is solar-heated, while at the Bundamba swim centre the 25m pool will be heated.

The Bundamba facility also has a gym which is open year round.

All Ipswich pools will be closed on Good Friday.
