Explosives found at vacant house in Brisbane's west

RESIDENTS have been warned to stay in their homes and specialist police have carried out controlled explosions after the discovery of explosives at a property in Brisbane's west.

Officers declared an emergency situation at 8.22pm on Wednesday night when a large amount of explosives were found at a home on Red Cedar Road in Pullenvale.

The police operation around the house is expected to continue well into Thursday morning.

Acting Inspector Mark Bradford said a real estate agent inspecting vacant property had stumbled across suspicious items unrelated to the explosives.
