Exciting opportunity for young Ipswich allrounders

IPSWICH'S TRYstars program for aspiring junior triathletes starts on Saturday.

The new event for 7-12 year olds is being held from 9-11am at Silkstone State School.

Junior coach and TRYstars co-ordinator Rebecca Ungermann is excited about the opportunity for young competitors to learn about the sport.

Saturday's event is also a lead-up to the Ipswich TUFFkidz competition on October 26.

Children must be able to swim 25 metres and ride unassisted.

"It's a fun and safe environment, teaching kids all the skills to complete their first triathlon,'' Ungermann said.

Ungermann is pictured with keen to learn youngsters Annabelle, Edward and William Johnstone.
