BOOGIE days are ahead at Ramblers Drop Zone in Toogoolawah, when the home of skydiving becomes packed with adventurers for a nine day festival which kicks off on Saturday.

Known as the Equinox Boogie, the biannual event is Australia's largest international freefall festival attracting hundreds of internationally recognised skydivers to the Brisbane Valley from October 4 to 12.

Ramblers Drop Zone is rated one of the top 10 skydiving venues in the world and its chief instructor Dave McEvoy said he was happy to join forces with Somerset Regional Council to promote the region.

"Ramblers is the adventure destination of Somerset and skydiving is quickly becoming a sport that more and more people are taking up," Mr McEvoy said.

"Tourism is one of our largest markets and Ramblers has become the place to learn how to skydive in south east Queensland.

Somerset Mayor Graeme Lehmann said the Equinox Boogie showcased the adventure opportunities available in the region.

"Watts Bridge Airfield is just around the corner and offers an abundance of unique aeronautical adventure opportunities," he said.

Internationally acclaimed British skydiver Dave Morris led a group of international skydivers over Toogoolawah today in preparation for the nine-day festival.

"Very warm, beautiful clouds, lovely scenery, Somerset looks fantastic from 13,000 feet!," Dave said.

The Equinox Boogie is open to the public daily throughout the festival until about 5pm and entry is free.

There will be plenty of skydiving and parachuting plus live music and entertainment on offer throughout the festival.
