Fisher Bridge reopens

THE Geoff Fisher Bridge on the Brisbane Valley Highway at Fernvale has been reopened after engineers checked its structural integrity.

The bridge has been closed since flooding hit the area last Tuesday.

It was another step forward for one of the worst-affected areas, however the hard work continues as Somerset Regional Council attempts to get to everyone affected.

Brisbane Valley Mayor Graeme Lehmann has paid tribute to local urban and rural firefighters who contributed to the flood recovery effort.

Council was also full of praise for volunteers who arrived from interstate and New Zealand to offer assistance.

Meals on Wheels Lowood is offering free meals to flood-affected residents.

For more details, contact Linda Child on 5426 1095.
