Elite riders to tackle mean and nasty bulls
RODEO fans are set for an exciting ride when the Pro Bull Riding Tour comes to Ipswich this month.
The first in the PBR series at Rockhampton last weekend attracted a 3000-strong crowd with organisers already talking about the event returning to Rockhampton next year.
Presented by Rural Weekly and The Queensland Times, the Pro Bull Riding Tour Live Series will be held at North Ipswich Reserve on October 25.
The series has attracted the country's elite competitors with 40 of the country's best bull riders to compete in the second round of the series at Ipswich.
Last weekend saw New Zealander, trackwork rider and former equestrian champion Fraser Babbington take out the first series in the competition.
The 27-year-old has had a dream run in the Rural Weekly PBR Live Series, delivering an 88.5-point ride on Barn Yard. Qualifying first after an 86-point effort on Pandemonium, Babbington gave fans the only successful ride in the championship round.
The seven-event series, staged at seven different regional centres over eight months, is being run by Australian Regional Media in association with PBR Australia.
The riders in the PBR-sanctioned event will not only be chasing valuable competition points but a slice of the $20,000 cash bonus from ARM that will bolster the overall prize pool.
For fans the entertainment will be edge-of-the-seat action with a bull every minute and a half with music and special effects to give the event a real buzz.
The crowd will get to see the action from every angle, with footage beamed on to a big screen.
The Ipswich event will pit the nation's most accomplished riders against the meanest, toughest bulls in the country.
Each of the competitors will ride once. The top 10 riders then move to the championship round; the winner will be the rider with the highest aggregate score from two bulls.
