OPINION: Election coverage will involve three candidate forums

THE QT will put its council election coverage into overdrive in the coming weeks to give every candidate an equal opportunity to promote their credentials.

Thanks to the assistance of the University of Southern Queensland, we will be staging three Meet the Candidate nights.

Our first forum will be held on Thursday, March 10 in the main auditorium at USQ Springfield.

The night will start at 5pm with the seven candidates for divisions 1-2-9 invited to attend.

The second and third nights will be at USQ Ipswich.

The second night Monday, March 14 will feature the 14 candidates from Divisions 3 and 5 as well as the three mayoral candidates and will commence at 6pm.

The final night, Tuesday, March 15, will commence at 6pm and will involve the 14 candidates from Divisions 4-6-7-8-10.

Each candidate will have three minutes to tell you why they deserve your vote. They will then be asked two random questions which will be supplied via our website, www.qt.com.au, or by those attending on the night.

We will do a full coverage on the performances of the candidates after each forum, both online and in the QT.

Further details will be published in the paper in the coming days.
