Men charged after alleged East Toowoomba shooting

UPDATE: A MAN has been arrested over an alleged shooting incident in East Toowoomba during which a 54-year-old man suffered a hip injury.

Toowoomba Criminal Investigation Branch detectives overnight arrested an 18-year-old man and charged two others with firearm offences in relation to the incident about 8pm Tuesday.

It is alleged a group of nine people went to the Curzon St property and demanded money from two men, who were known to the group.

A 54-year-old man was allegedly struck in the head with a glass object before he was shot in the hip with a small-calibre firearm.

The group fled while the man was treated at Toowoomba Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The 18-year-old man was arrested last night in Toowoomba City, and charged with robbery whilst armed with actual violence, and possessing dangerous drugs.

Detectives allege a .22 calibre shortened firearm and a .22 calibre handgun, along with ammunition and a quantity of cannabis, were located at the property.

Two men, both 22 from Toowoomba, were charged with firearms and drug-related offences.

One of the men charged was allegedly connected to an incident on Wednesday evening in Toowoomba.

Detectives said one of the firearms was allegedly used to rob an associate.

The three men charged were due to appear in Toowoomba Magistrates Court today.

EARLIER: A GROUP of people who stormed an East Toowoomba home and demanded money from a man moments before he was shot remain on the run.

Detectives are continuing the search for the group after what was believed to be a targeted incident at a Curzon St home about 8pm Tuesday.

Darling Downs Detective Acting Inspector Renee Garske said the incident, during which a man was struck over the head with a glass object before he was shot with a small calibre firearm, was not being treated as a random attack.

"It is a priority (for police) given the nature of the incident," Acting Inspector. Garske said.

"We are running out lines of inquiries and make an appeal to the public for information.

"Police believe it was not a random incident and that it was targeted."
