THE Ipswich Eagles showed their superior depth and earnt first bragging rights of the season in overpowering the Ipswich Cats in Sunday's Aussie rules local derby at Amberley.

The Eagles won the QAFA Third grade match 19.6-120 to 1.4-10.

Leading Eagles goalkickers were Rory Akermanis (four), Justin Cummings and Chris Devlin (three). Best players included Cummings, Devlin, Anthony Dabelstein, Adam Irwin, Steve Massey and Mark Kennedy.

Dabelstein, Irwin and Massey are enjoying their first season at the Eagles.

The match was the first home game for the Cats at their new base at the Ivor Marsden Sporting Complex.
