Mitchell Duke hoping to reign in Japan after big move

CENTRAL Coast Mariners midfielder Mitchell Duke has become the latest player from the club's production line of young talent to secure an overseas contract.

Duke, who made his Socceroos debut in the 2013 East Asian Cup, has signed with Japanese club Shimizu S-Pulse, pending a medical.

"It's a huge challenge for me to head overseas and prove myself in another country," Duke said.

He joins a long list of Mariners stars, including Mustafa Amini (Borussia Dortmund), Oliver Bozanic (FC Luzern), Mathew Ryan (Club Brugge), Trent Sainsbury (PEC Zwolle), Tom Rogic (Celtic), Alex Wilkinson (Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors) and Mile Jedinak (Crystal Palace), as graduates of the club's academy.
