DTL makes the earth move

YOU may not feel the earth move, but you sure will see it by stepping away from the shovel and engaging DTL Bobcat and Tipper Hire to undertake the job at hand. This is a family business with Daniel Bell working as the operator. It is a far more efficient way to get preparation and clean-up work carried out.

The business has been created to fill a need in the market. "Many operators don't like smaller jobs but there is a real need for two hours and above calls and to do it at a competitive rate," Mr Terry Bell, co-director said.

DTL Bobcat and Tipper Hire started out in April this year and has been growing month by month. "I am loving it, it is a bit of change driving them [bobcats], than working on them," Daniel Bell said. He is a fully-qualified diesel mechanic so machinery is not unknown to him. The obvious benefit is that if there is anything mechanical that goes wrong he can fix it. "I can repair most things on the site myself."

Terry and Leah Bell are the directors of the company and have extensive business knowledge themselves. This venture is, in part, to give son Daniel an opportunity to develop his skills and to expand their business interests. "We have all the necessary insurance cover in place and Daniel is a licensed operator."

DTL Bobcat and Tipper Hire can handle a range of jobs from clearing sites, preparation for building, concreting preparation, leveling ground and the list goes on. "I do a lot of basic jobs but I am doing a lot of house slab preparation and rockwalls. A lot of people are putting in new sheds and doing renovation work, it is cheaper to extend on the existing home," Daniel Bell said.

The company can access other earth-moving machinery including post hole diggers, trenchers and spreader bars. It also can recommend tradespeople for other tasks on the job.

"A lot of people will struggle along trying to move a lot of soil or other materials by hand but they can get us in and we can do the job quicker, and often in the long run a lot cheaper. We aim to support the home owner and make it affordable," Mr Bell said.

The tipper can be hired on its own and will take up to 12 cubic metres of soil, rock, trees. There is a real benefit having the two units available as they support each other. A lot of people are clearing trees and with the high fire danger currently being experienced it is good to clean up.

"I do have arborists that we can recommend to handle the tree lopping and then we can do the removal," he said.

While son Daniel has had a long-term interest in all things mechanical, Terry, his father, shares the interest. "I was going to be a diesel mechanic so I have always had an interest myself. We have always had machinery around us." Their focus is on working around smaller jobs but they are also seeking some larger contract work to give them a broader scope of work.

"We will come on site, take a look at the job and give a free quote and any advice on how to do it in the most efficient and cost effective way."

The passion for the industry is certainly showing through in the establishment and growth of DTL Bobcat and Tipper Hire. Contact Daniel Bell on 0477 883 700 or 0422 435 387 to discuss a quote or to get more information.
