Drunken teen stole jackets worth $1450
A TEENAGER said he was drunk when he and a mate stole four jackets worth $1450.
At Ipswich Magistrates Court this week, Jamal Kemp-Scheiwe pleaded guilty to one charge of stealing.
The 18-year-old and his friend swiped the jackets from a store in DFO Jindalee, ran out of the shopping centre and drove off in a car.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Brad Dick said the theft took place on September 28 about 4.50pm.
The incident was recorded on CCTV footage which led to Kemp-Scheiwe and his co-offender being caught.
The teen told police he was heavily intoxicated when he stole the jackets.
He said he did not have the jackets as an "unknown male" had taken them.
Kemp-Scheiwe said he had "acted stupid" and was remorseful for his behaviour.
In addition to the stealing charge he was also charged with failing to appear.
Kemp Scheiwe was placed on a $300 six-month good behaviour bond and ordered to pay $725 in restitution.
