Drug cop facing long stint in jail

A COURT in Finland has sentenced the former head of the Helsinki drug squad to 10 years in prison for drug smuggling. Jari Aarnio was found to have helped a gang import nearly a tonne of hashish. Aarnio, 59, was found guilty of five drug crimes and 17 other offences including framing an innocent man as the leader of the drug ring, official misconduct and aggravated evidence tampering. Aarnio was in the anti-drugs force for 30 years until his arrest in 2013. In September, he was sentenced to three years in jail for fraud. He denied all the charges against him.
