A MOTORIST walked away from a spectacular crash on the Cunningham Hwy on Saturday with just minor injuries after a tree-laden ute flipped on to its roof.

A Mitsubishi Ute carrying a load of pine trees flipped on to its roof about 3.15pm in a west-bound lane near the Swanbank exit on Saturday.

According to police, the car lost traction while on the highway and began to fishtail for an unknown reason.

It then flipped and ended up upside-down, coming to a stop on its roof.

The man driving the vehicle crawled out of the ute by himself and was taken to Ipswich Hospital by ambulance with minor injuries.

The crash saw traffic reduced to one lane west-bound until the ute was taken off the road and the highway cleared of debris and pine trees.

Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash. Anyone with information which could assist police with this matter should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at crimestoppers.com.au 24 hours a day.
