Driver assaulted and taxi stolen in Redbank Plains

A MAN is assisting police with their inquiries after a taxi driver was assaulted and then his vehicle stolen at Redbank Plains on Sunday.

Police will allege that at 1.15pm, the driver picked up a fare at a shopping centre at Redbank Plaza.

He was directed to drive to Willow Road where he was punched in the face and his taxi stolen.

It is believed a man and the vehicle were located in Brisbane a short time later.

A 56-year-old man was transported to the Ipswich General Hospital with facial injuries.

Investigations are continuing.
