Drink-driver owns up

AN HONEST driver who admitted to police she would be over the legal alcohol limit has been fined.

Ipswich Magistrates Court heard Tegan Fay Kirkman was breathalysed about 3.30am on March 8.

Her breath alcohol reading was 0.089.

Kirkman, 22, told police: "I know I’m over by heaps, I’m just going to admit that now."

The 22-year-old’s licence had expired on February 6, so she was driving unlicensed, and her car’s registration had expired on January 27 – making it also uninsured.

Kirkman pleaded guilty to charges of drink-driving, driving unlicensed and driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle.

She was fined $650 and disqualified from obtaining a licence for three months.

Kirman told the court: "It was a silly mistake".
