Drink-drive to police station

A MAN was caught drink driving when he attended a police station on an unrelated matter.

Stephan Warren Whelan, 43, drove to the Ferny Grove police station on March 16 but after officers smelt liquor, he was breathalysed and recorded 0.055.

Ipswich Magistrates Court heard Whelan admitted he drove to the station, then denied he had, but CCTV footage from the station’s car park quickly proved the offence.

Whelan was again stopped on April 5 and recorded 0.061.

He pleaded guilty to two charges of drink driving, was fined $400 and disqualified for four months.
