Lynelle's weimeraners want Ekka gold

SHOWING off their poise and grace is something these two beauties usually reserve for showtime only.

So for an informal photo shoot with The Queensland Times, good behaviour is out.

Weimaraners Kye and Bree have boundless energy and enthusiasm, and have owner Lynelle Smith wrapped around their tails.

The dogs, weighing in at 50kg each, must contain their vigour for the upcoming competition at the Ekka, where they will be judged on impeccable presentation.

Ms Smith will be going for gold at the Ekka this week and describes herself as “very new” to competitive dog showing.

But for the Bundamba resident the show was more than just awards.

“It is a great way to meet and socialise with other animal-lovers, and the dogs love it too,” she said.

“They can feel the energy and excitement of the crowd, and they know that they've done well.

“Kye, who competes as Bromhund Free N Ezy, is an Australian Grand Champion, the highest award a dog can achieve.

“Earlier this year he won best of breed at the Toowoomba Royal Show.”

The dogs will be judged on obedience, breeding standards and overall presentation.

The Ekka officially starts tomorrow and runs until Sunday, August 15.
