Deranged whinger threatens to poison dogs with 1080
FATHER of three Paul Brown loves the peace and quiet of his little cul-de-sac in Goodna.
Unfortunately, somewhere nearby lurks an unhinged, twisted and possibly dangerous individual.
Mr Brown and wife Jaana were one of several Brendan Place residents to receive a crude and threatening letter on Thursday.
The typed letter asks if the recipient's dog has been barking at night, before threatening to poison every dog in the street with 1080.
Commonly used to reduce wild dog numbers in country areas, 1080 baiting is strictly controlled by authorities.
Mr Brown, who owns two beagles, said the strange thing about the letter was that dog barking was not a major problem in the street.
"Dogs bark sometimes - there's no big issue here," he said.
"It's not a big deal for us but clearly it is for someone.
"Whoever wrote this letter must be unhinged."
Mr Brown took the letter straight to Goodna police station and the matter is being investigated further.
Goodna area Councillor Paul Tully said he was appalled by the letter.
"Neighbours are living in fear this madman could strike at any time," he said.
"Only a demented person with a twisted mind could instil this sort of fear into a community."
Cr Tully said he was going back through council records to see if any complaints had been made about barking dogs in the neighbourhood over the past year.
"It is possible that we can narrow the scope of the investigation," he said.
