Do or die for Jets hopefuls
ANY JETS fans who can't make it to Manly this weekend should make their way to Laidley tonight.
While the Ipswich Jets Intrust Super Cup side travels to Manly this weekend to play the Sea Eagles, the BRL and Colts sides will face-off against the Toowoomba Valleys in their final pre-season game.
Ipswich Jets BRL coach Mark Bishop said fans could expect to see the same exciting style of play on display at the Laidley Recreation Reserve tonight.
"It's going to be entertaining that's for sure," he said.
"There's plenty of guys still playing for a spot so they will come out strong tonight."
With more than 50 players training for a possible 34 spots with the Jets, tonight will be their last chance to impress the coaching staff.
"Everyone is good enough to make it," Bishop said.
"Unfortunately you can't take everyone and some blokes are going to miss out.
Bishop said making the hard decision of you does and doesn't make the cut was a welcome headache.
"When you have a successful season like the Jets did last year you're going to have a lot of players who want to come on board," he said.
"It's a good headache to have."
Converting the new players over to the Jets style of play had not posed a problem for Bishop.
"The most encouraging thing has been how quickly the players have come on board with our style," he said.
"As a player you have to adapt to a club's style.
"At the moment the score doesn't matter, it's about getting that way we want to play right."
