LOWOOD State High School students are busily preparing for the upcoming school musical called "Disneyfied", featuring all your favourite Disney characters.

Disneyfied has been developed by dance, drama, humanities and music teachers, Miss Samantha Drury, Mrs Angela Everding, Miss Elizabeth Ball and Ms Kristie-Lee Doyle, and explores Disney classics from the 1930s to now.

The audience will be entertained by characters such as Mickey and Minnie Mouse, the Seven Dwarfs, Mary Poppins, Ariel and Sebastian from The Little Mermaid, Nala, Simba, Zazu and Scar from The Lion King, Belle and The Beast from Beauty And The Beast, Elsa, Anna and Hans from Frozen, and many more support cast and dancers.

Year 12 student Monica Ogg plays six different Disney characters in the musical and said she loved the idea of a Disney-inspired musical.

"Rehearsals have been intense but extremely entertaining, the whole experience has been a wonderful journey," she said. "I couldn't think of a better idea. Who doesn't love Disney?"

Musical director Ms Kristie-Lee Doyle said students have been rehearsing since mid-May for their performances on August 15 and 16.

"So much hard work and preparation has gone into making the performance as amazing as possible," she said. "We've had a lot of assistance from other staff helping out with teaching singing, creating props and building sets. It wouldn't be possible without them. This year we have done something different by coming up with our own idea and putting it together.

"The students are loving it and have been working extremely hard, coming to rehearsals in their lunch breaks, after school, on weekends and even during their holidays."

The cast consists of approximately 35 students from Years 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12, with a large number of students from younger year levels being involved.

"It was pleasing to see so many Year 8 students involved," Ms Doyle said.

"All students have been very committed.

"It shows the wonderful, hardworking students we have at the school. They love performing to large audiences.

"Now we are rehearsing in costumes, with lighting, set and props, it makes it more real."

This year Lowood State High School is performing two shows, on Friday, August 15 and Saturday, August 16 at 7pm as well as a primary school matinee performance on Thursday.

Tickets cost $15 for adults, $10 for students and concession card holders and just $8 for primary school students or children.

Family prices and season tickets also will be available. Tickets will be sold at the door and canteen facilities will be available. To purchase tickets in advance to Disneyfied, visit the Lowood State High School administration desk, or call the school on 54278333.
