Desperate Megan will pay $1000 to get a job
AN IPSWICH mum has set a hefty reward - to the tune of $1000 - for anyone who can find her a job.
After five weeks of scrolling through job websites and applying for more than 100 positions, Sadliers Crossing resident Megan LeBherz is trying to set herself apart from the crowd.
Ms LeBherz kicked off a social media campaign, hoping to lure potential job suitors with the carrot of a grand in cold, hard cash. Rather than focusing on her hard luck, Ms LeBherz has upped the anti in her search for employment.
With years of experience in customer service, internal sales and running call centres, Ms LeBherz is eager to return to the workforce.
She created the Facebook page Lost: 1 Job - Reward $1000, featuring a western style wanted sign in a bid to attract interest.
The prize money will be awarded to the first person to find Ms LeBherz a successful job interview.
She will have no qualms handing over the cash to the lucky suitor.
"It's a very small price to pay," she said. "The only thing bigger than the reward would be the hug I give the person. It costs me $800 a week to stay at home."
With so many job seekers applying for each position, Ms LeBherz said it was difficult to sell yourself to potential employers.
"I'm finding it increasingly difficult. I would have liked to have had a few more interviews.
"There are lots of jobs out there, probably more than I've ever seen. But it's a case of getting noticed.
"I've got a few skills to offer and it is frustrating when you can't get your foot in the door."
The monotony of daytime television is starting to get to Ms LeBherz.
"There is so much Dr Phil someone can take."
If anyone is interested in hiring Ms LeBherz, contact her through her Facebook page.
