'Depraved' father puts 2yo daughter on porn site

A 28-YEAR-OLD dad has been jailed after taking indecent photos of his two-year-old daughter and uploading them onto a child porn site.

The man - who cannot be named for legal reasons - faced Ipswich District Court this week to plead guilty to making, possessing and distributing child pornography.

He was also charged with using a carriage service to access child exploitation material and six counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16.

Crown prosecutor Matt Le Grand said the man's offending came to light when he confessed to his wife that he was a pedophile during an argument.

The man told his wife he had written a suicide note that explained he was attracted to children between the ages of two to 12 years.

When police later visited the man at his house he also told them about his pedophilia and that he needed help.

Mr Le Grand said the man's computer was examined by police and found to contain "a large quantity" of child exploitation material, which he obtained from April 2013 to January 2014.

He said some of the images and videos were of the worst category of child pornography, depicting sadism, penetration and bestiality.

Even more concerning was the discovery of indecent images, which the man had taken of his two-year-old daughter.

The man, from Rangeville, had uploaded the images onto a website he regularly used to download and view child exploitation material.

He said by sharing the indecent images of his daughter, he was granted VIP access to the site.

"He essentially used these pictures of his daughter to gain favour with the wider child pornography community," Mr Le Grand said.

Defence lawyer Scott Lynch said his client developed an obsession with child pornography at a young age.

As a consequence of his offending, Mr Lynch said the man had lost his family, his marriage and his respect in the community.

He said his client had spent 408 days in jail awaiting a final verdict and sentence for his offending.

"During his time in prison, my client has worked arduously to address his mental health issues and rehabilitate himself," Mr Lynch said.

Judge Bradley said the man's behaviour was "depraved, repulsive and disgusting" and involved "an extreme breach of trust".

"You corrupted your own daughter," she told the man.

"Your daughter might be oblivious to what happened at the moment, but one day she will come of an age and be seriously disturbed to know what her own father did."

The man was sentenced to four years in prison and made eligible for parole after serving 16 months.

He was also put on a $500 good behaviour bond for five years.
