Deception Bay man faces string of charges including torture

POLICE have charged a man following the alleged armed robbery and torture of a man in Deception Bay on Saturday morning.  

Around 9.30am a 21-year-old Deception Bay man was invited into a residence on Lockyer Parade by a man known to him.  

Once inside the man and another unknown male allegedly assaulted him and took his personal possessions.  

It will be further alleged the 21-year-old man was taken into another room of the house bound to a chair and struck in the head with a metal object.  

A man then poured accelerant over the victim and choked him.  

At around 3pm the man was allegedly led out of the house and ordered into the boot of a car however managed to escape and seek help from a nearby resident.  

The man was treated at the scene for facial injuries and injuries to his hands.  

Police arrived at the scene and spoke with the victim before arresting a man.  

A 29-year-old Deception Bay man has been charged with one count of armed robbery, deprivation of liberty and torture and is due to appear in the Redcliffe Magistrates Court on Monday, July 24.
