Dazzling display of festive cheer lighting up suburbs

GLITTERING lights and an abundance of Christmas decorations are adorning Ipswich homes this month, with more than 80 households entering the annual competition.

The competition is a joint partnership between Ipswich City Council and The Queensland Times.

QT marketing manager Lauren Roche said the response this year had been overwhelming.

"We've had a fantastic array of entries - far more than last year," Ms Roche said. "Winners are expected to be announced in mid-December."

More than $5000 in cash and prizes will awarded across the different categories. Coach tours of a selection of the best displays will be held on December 18 and 19.

The tours will leave the Ipswich City Council carpark at 45 Roderick St at 7pm and a light supper will be provided at the Ipswich Visitor Information Centre in Queens Park. It finishes around 9.45pm and bookings are essential.

Tickets for the tours are $20 for adult, $15 for children and concessions and $60 for the family.
