Data storage company plans massive expansion

A DATA storage company located in a growing area of Toowoomba is expanding and aims to nearly double its storage capacity.

Grace Data Centre offers technology storage and its sheds host a massive, ultra-secure, web-hosted repository that can hold huge amounts of information.

Plans submitted to Toowoomba Regional Council show developer M and M Steinmuller Pty Ltd want to double the size of a warehouse at 807-809 Greenwattle St in Glenvale.

The proposal includes extending the existing warehouse from 1,122.3m sq by a further 1,036.6sq m.

An additional 13 car parks will also be built, bringing the total number of car parks to 28.

The site is located within council's low impact industry zone.

Town planner Andrew Hill from Alpha Planning Applications argued a proposed access easement would negate the need for additional accesses to be provided to the site, particularly from Euston Rd.

The company has multiple offices in NSW, ACT, Victoria, South Australia, Northern Territory, Western Australia, Tasmania and Queensland.
